When Is Ear Protection Required?
Ear protection should be worn if exposed to a sound level which is close to or greater than the occupational exposure limits for noise, which is 85dB(A). Exposures at or above this level are considered hazardous and if left without ear protection, can cause noise induced hearing loss.
